K-Drives

Overview

K-Drives are Warframe's version of hoverboards. You can do tricks, race, or simply travel around the open worlds on them. They're not the fastest option when compared to Archwings, but they're a fun choice if you like speed racing and competing with friends on the race leaderboards. K-Drives also give a total 30,000 mastery points, which could easily make the difference when pushing towards your next mastery rank.

Building your K-Drives

K-Drives mastery is stored in the board part, and the rest of the parts are purely cosmetic. Since only the board grants mastery, the real meta is looking as sleek as possible. The cooler your board, the more skilled a K-Drive user you are!

Most K-Drive parts can be bought from the Ventkids on Fortuna, and all boards are crafted through Rocky at the Ventkid hideout. However, The infested board and its parts are earned by completing specific races on the Cambion Drift. You technically don't need to build a full infested board, but how else are you going to prove how skilled you are? The Feverspine board is earned by completing the Dead Drop race. The remaining parts come from Exocrine Flow (Nodulite), Muck and Mire (Gristleback), and Pride Before a Fall (Steeba).

Leveling K-Drives

There are two main ways to level up K-Drives.

1. Spam Tricks

Behind the Fortuna elevator there's a large pipe that is great for racking up high-scoring tricks which give K-Drive affinity. While grinding, you can jump and perform tricks in the air to earn points and get a trick multiplier. As long as you hold the grind button just before landing, you won't break your trick chain. This means as long as you can continuously grind a rail, you can build up large tricks. The pipe is perfect for this because when you reach the end, you can jump, do a 180, and grind straight back up. Rinse and repeat.

Tricks cap out at 3,000 affinity, or 6,000 with the Primo Flair mod. A K-Drive needs 900,000 affinity to max out, so you're looking at around 300 combos to finish the grind. Primo Flair cuts that to 150, and an affinity booster halves it again. This method is slow and consistent, but honestly, it's pretty mind numbing.

2. K-Drive Races

K-Drive races can be found scattered across the open worlds and are the superior method for leveling K-Drives. Races give K-Drive affinity per gate completed, with a bonus for the final gate. Longer races will give you larger chunks of affinity and their challenges can make them quite enjoyable. Shorter races give smaller amounts of affinity but are more efficient. My personal recommendation is to focus on Orb Vallis races, which tend to be easier and to find the longest race of the day. Races also come with leaderboards, so challenge yourself and your friends to see who is the superior gamer!
